What should this product actually cost?

Most pricing goes wrong in the same place: the cost of the product is counted, and everything it takes to actually sell the product is not. Put the real numbers in and you get the lowest price that still leaves you a business.

How to read the result

before you set a price
the floor

Minimum is not your price

It is the line below which you are paying for the privilege of making a sale. Your actual price sits above it, and how far above is a positioning decision, not a maths one.

Watch for: pricing at the floor and then discounting.

the missing cost

Put your CPA in

The cost of acquiring a customer is a cost of the product, the same as packaging. Businesses that leave it out of pricing are the ones that scale ad spend and watch profit fall.

Best for: anyone running paid ads.

the long game

Repeat purchase changes it

If customers buy again, you can afford a higher acquisition cost on the first order. That is a deliberate decision made with numbers, not a reason to skip the calculation.

Best for: subscriptions and consumables.
