Is your account actually
working?

Followers tell you almost nothing. What matters is how many people do something when you post, measured against how many are watching. Put last month’s numbers in and you get your real engagement rate, how it compares, and the one change that would earn you the most without spending a pound more on ads. Two calculations are free.

two free calculations

Before you start

Two calculations are free. Tell me who you are so I can keep your results together, and so I know what people are measuring.

Your details and your figures are saved privately to my records. They are never shown on this website and never shared.

YouTube publishes these figures openly, so a link is enough. Instagram and Facebook can be read this way too, but only by an app Meta has approved — not something this site has been through yet. TikTok and LinkedIn do not offer it at all. For any of those, open your own analytics and type the four numbers in below.

Engagement rate here means interactions ÷ posts ÷ followers × 100 — the share of your audience that does something on an average post. Published benchmarks disagree because some measure against reach instead; this one is stated so you can compare like with like.

How to read the result

the honest number

Followers are not the metric

An account of 100,000 where nobody comments is worth less than one of 5,000 where people do. Engagement rate is the one figure that does not care how big you are, which is why it is the one worth tracking month to month.

Watch for: buying followers, which lowers this number by design.

the usual cause

Posting less than you think

Most accounts that feel stuck are not making bad content, they are making too little of it. Cadence is the cheapest variable you control: it costs no media budget and it compounds.

Best for: anyone posting under twice a week.

the trap

A benchmark from the wrong business

A beauty brand and a B2B clinic do not share an audience, a buying cycle or a reason to comment. Compare yourself to your own sector and your own last month, and treat everybody else’s average as a rough floor.

Watch for: targets copied from a case study in another industry.
